INTRODUCTION The NUI Certificate in Equality Studies in Training and Development will heighten participants knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues in order to contribute to the development of socially inclusive workplaces. The course will equip practitioners with the competence to become professional trainers in this challenging area. COURSE AIM To provide participants with knowledge and skills in the following areas: · Reflective Practice · Equality Issues in a Diverse Ireland · Ability and Disability Issues · Teaching and Learning
CONTENT The five Units of the course resource materials are presented in an open / flexible learning format, supported by three days of workshop: Unit 1: Academic & Personal Skills Unit 2: The Shape of Irish society Unit3: Equality in a Diverse Ireland Unit 4: Ability and Disability Unit 5: Teaching and Learning ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS Course to be aimed at practitioners in learning and development or those with an interest in learning about diversity. Basic I.T. skills Access to a computer with Windows 2000 or above and broadband internet access. Commitment to self-directed learning.
