Certificate in Psychology - Level 7

This certificate level course is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to develop an understanding of psychology and to explore its' relevance to the individual, family, community and society. The course aims to introduce participants to the main pschological theories and examine their contribution to the development of the discipline.

Programme Content

Module 1: Introduction to Psychology & Study Skills.

Module 2: The Biological Basis of Behaviour

Module 3: Learning and Feeling

Module 4: Personality

Module 5: The Development of the Individual

Module 6: Introduction to Social Psychology

Module 7: Introduction to Abnormal Psychology

Entry Requirements

Participants must be 23 years or older and have adequate literacy skills to participate in an NUI Certificate Level 7 course.

Assessment Procedures

  • 85% minimum attendance
  • Class participation
  • Essay
  • Research Project
  • Report based on Learning Journal

 

Course Duration

100 hours part time over the academic year which may include 3 or 4 saturdays. For year 2011 - 2012 course is on tuesday nights from 7pm - 10pm.

Award

The award is a Level 7 Certificate in Psychology from National University of Ireland Maynooth (NUIM).

Fees

The fee for the academic year 2011 is €1250 which can be spread over the year using our Direct Debit Plan.
