CERTIFICATE IN EQUALITY STUDIES IN TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT - LEVEL 7

The NUI Certificate in equality studies in Training and development will heighten participants' knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues in order to contribute to the development of socially inclusive workplaces.  The course will equip practicioners with the competence to become professional trainers in this challenging area.  Participants interested in undertaking this course for the academic year 2012-13 are invited to contact the director at Laois Third level Centre at mmorrin@portarlingtonaec.ie or telephone 057 8623161.

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide participants with knowledge and skill in the following areas:

Reflective Practice

Equality issues in a Diverse Ireland

Ability & Disability issues

Teaching and Learning

Programme Content

The five units of the course resource materials are presented in an open/flexible learning format, supported by three days of workshop:

  • Unit 1 : Academic & Personal Skills
  • Unit 2 : The Shape of Irish Society
  • Unit 3 : Equality in a Diverse Ireland
  • Unit 4 : Ability and Disability
  • Unit 5 : Teaching & learning

Entry Requirements

The course is aimed at practitioners in learning and development or those with an interest in learning about diversity.  You will need basic I.T skills, access to a computer with Windows 2000 or above and broadband Internet access.  also a commitment to self- directed learning is a requirement.

Course Duration

Students meet together in 3 workshops in Laois Third Level, Bracklone Street, Portarlington and participate on line for the remainder of the course.

Award

FETAC Level 7 Certificate in Equality Studies in Training & Development.

Fees

The fee for the academic Year 2011-12 is €950. The cost of the fees can be spread with our Direct Debit Plan.
